My parents instilled in me the concept of getting a good education, joining Corporate America in a solid, growing company, and life would be good. For many years, this approach appeared to be right on.

Today, I don’t feel that corporations have any real loyalty to its employees. That’s a real shame. It wasn’t like that when I started my career.

I received under-graduate and graduate degrees in accounting, finance, and economics. I was hired by a good company. I received several promotions that moved me to different parts of the country.

Life was good. I thought I had it made.

Then something happened that completely changed my life.

My company stopped getting contracts that produced revenue for us. It started laying off many employees. After all my years of hard work and dedicated service, I was let go and replaced by my assistant who was available at a much lesser salary level.

My world was turned upside down. I had no back-up plan – no plan B. At the time the U.S. economy was very weak. There were very few jobs available, particularly at my level.

After many months, I did finally find a job. But in the meantime, I went through almost all my savings. This was money I had worked very hard for. This was money I had set aside for my retirement.

My wife is probably like most women. They want security in their lives, and I don’t blame them. Fortunately she had a job. If she didn’t, I don’t know what we would have done. But my situation put a tremendous amount of pressure on her.

She was scared to death and so was I. I tried hard to not show the fear I was feeling.

We had two children. The lifestyle of our entire family had to be cut back drastically.

I Tell You This Story about Myself Because I Feel that Many People Will be Going Through Similar Situations Over the Next Several Months and Years

You may have been laid off. Or you may just be concerned about your financial future.

I certainly don’t have to tell you this. We are living in very difficult economic times.

But many people in our country feel that the federal government has taken care of them. They think that the $700 billion bailout, plus all the money we are spending related to Lehman Brothers, AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the automobile industry has saved them.

I personally don’t think this is the end of the list of companies the government bails out. I think financial problems will continue to spread into many other areas – retail, the automobile industry (even more than before), commercial real estate, and many others. The government will not be able to bail out most of the companies. Many companies will fail or, at the very least, have their bottom lines negatively impacted.

I feel we will see soaring unemployment rates. I feel that very few jobs are secure today. In the story of my layoff, my biggest regret is that I didn’t have Plan B. I didn’t have a back-up plan.

Most people react the way I did when I realized my company was having financial problems. They complain the way things are. They worry about their lack of security and have trouble sleeping at night.

But here is the most important thing. They don’t do anything about it . That’s a huge mistake!

I Recommend That You Have a Plan B – Something to Fall Back on if You are Laid Off

1. If you enjoy the work you do, consider more in depth training in your area of expertise. Take on additional responsibilities. Make yourself indispensable.

2. If you don’t like your job responsibilities, take on additional responsibilities that could lead to expanded job potential.

3. If you don’t like your job, consider getting training in an area you would enjoy. This would, at least, give you more flexibility in a job search in case of a lay-off. It could actually work out better for you in the long run.

4. You could consider getting into a business on your own. Get into a business that utilizes a hobby you have. You probably would not want to leave your job unless you have to. But you have taken steps preparing yourself for that transition.

5. Another path to strongly consider is to transition into an internet network marketing business.

The most important factor in achieving a successful internet business is to master marketing. There are many advantages to this type of business.

1. You can access the very best internet network marketing training online at a very low cost.

2. This allows you to master key marketing concepts at your own pace. You can continue to work your job and go through the training in your spare time. I know that most of us have little spare time. But if you want this back-up plan to work, you must absolutely must push yourself.

3. If you choose to master marketing methods by following excellent internet network marketing training source, you can be very, very successful in an internet business. You also have the potential of earning far more than you ever had in your job.

4. Network marketing methods have changed dramatically over the years. The methods I use today are based on internet attraction marketing. These methods are fun, they are professional, and they attract prospects to me.

5. There is virtually no cost in generating leads using this type of internet attraction marketing.

My list could go on and on, but I think you get the point.

No matter what you decide to do, please give strong consideration to having a Backup Plan

But don’t just think about it. You must take action. This will help you to sleep better at night and save you (and make you) tons of money in the long run.
